Due to the Corona epidemic, Malaysia and Brunei have decided not to take part in the upcoming Hajj. Mohammad Sayemi, the chief counselor of the Malaysian Hajj Mission in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, has said that his country's pilgrims will not participate in the upcoming Hajj.

Meanwhile, the Brunei government has also suspended the Hajj process. Earlier, the governments of Indonesia and Singapore also decided not to participate in the upcoming Hajj.

Hundreds of thousands of Muslims from Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, and Singapore travel to Saudi Arabia each year for the Hajj. During the Hajj quota this year, 221,000 people from Indonesia alone had the opportunity to go to Saudi Arabia. More than 90 percent of the people have already registered for the Hajj.

Depending on the sighting of the moon, the 9th Zilhaj Hajj may start on July 30. The governments of Saudi Arabia announced their decision before making a final decision on the Hajj.

However, Saudi Arabia has suspended the opportunity for foreigners to perform Umrah until further notice. Coronavirus infections have recently increased again in Saudi Arabia.
