Wei More driverless taxi will run on the streets of Phoenix

In a few days, residents of Phoenix, Arizona, USA, will be able to call a driverless taxi by downloading the app. Google's Weimo has brought this facility for them.

Weimo tested driverless taxis in the area before the epidemic subsided. For the time being, only those who took part in the test will be allowed to use driverless taxis by their friends and family. Within a few weeks, Weimo will allow all app users to call driverless taxis.

Weimo promised to bring this service two more years ago. The company will monitor the driverless vehicles from a distance, so that the 'vehicle operator' can take control in case of an emergency.

According to Ars Technica, the driverless taxi, will initially cover only 130 square kilometers. They can be seen walking in the suburbs of Phoenix, Chandler, Tempe , and Mesa. Exactly how many people will initially be given access to the driverless taxi calling app, the company has not yet said.

However, Weimo said, "We hope that our driverless taxi service will become very popular, and we are grateful for the patience of the passengers in delivering the service as per the demand."

There are about 600 cars under Weimo. The company has not yet said exactly how many vehicles will run on the new service.

Weimo was already at the forefront of driverless technology, said Chris Jones, an analyst at analytics firm Canalis. Now the people of the company have to be persuaded to ride in such technology cars. Coronavirus can play a special role in this.

“We are seeing growing concern over car shares at this time. For example, Uber bookings have dropped significantly. ” - Says Jones.

He added, “People are familiar with Weimo. They have been testing it in Phoenix for many years. Faith will be the most important thing here. For example, should I send my daughter to school via Weimo? ”

The next step for the company will be to take its service to other parts of the United States. Weimo is currently being tested in about 25 places.
