In 1986,
NASA sent a rocket to the moon. But for some reason, it did not succeed. NASA
has not found it for 54 long years. After so many years in Earth orbit, many
have confused it as an asteroid. The truth was finally known.
At first it was thought that another small moon had entered the Earth's orbit. Although the moon in the shape of a hippopotamus was actually a piece of the failed lunar mission, a scientist was the first to mention such a possibility. But in so many days, the proof is, it really is.
The dwarf the moon was first seen through a telescope from the International Astronomical Union's Minor Planet Center. The Minor Planet Center of the International Astronomical Union is responsible for observing, researching, and naming all the planets in the solar system.
Caspar
Weizkhors, an astronomer at the Minor Planet Center of the International
Astronomical Union recently tweeted about this 2020 CD3. Caspar, a member of
the Catalina Sky Survey team, and his colleagues first discovered the asteroid
on February 15.
Caspar said
at the time that there were millions of such asteroids. However, this is the
second time in the history of space that the Earth has entered orbit. Earlier,
an asteroid named RH120 entered the Earth's orbit for a short time. Also
orbited the earth. That also caught the eye of the members of the Catalina Sky
Survey.
But what
exactly causes this asteroid to come into Earth orbit? Scientists say that this
may be due to the earth's combined reaction, the moon, and the sun.
Astronomers estimate that 2020 CD3 has been orbiting the Earth for the past
three years. Astronomers also thought that the orbit would change again between
October 2020 and May 2021. The asteroid is expected to come closer to Earth
early next year.
However,
Paul Chodas, a scientist at the NASA Center for Near-Earth Objects, speculated
from the outset that this might not be something cosmic. The object is probably
a booster rocket from the 1960s. It was seen that his words came true!
