Most virus tests in the United States are 'just a waste': Bill Gates

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has criticized coronavirus testing in the United States, saying most tests are "just a waste." Because, it is too late for the results of these tests to come.

Bill Gates said this in an interview given to the CNBC news channel in the United States.

He thinks people should get coronavirus test results quickly so that they can take precautionary measures to avoid the risk of infecting others if the virus is detected.

Bill Gates said, “Simply put, there is no point in paying someone to get a test result after more than 48 hours. Testing in this way is nothing but a waste. Most of the tests we do are a waste. ”

Calling it "madness" to spend money on test results, he said it could take more than three days or even a whole week to get the results.

The introduction of coronavirus infection in the United States was slowed by the introduction of nationwide testing. And delays in getting test results have hampered efforts to control the spread of the virus in the country, experts say.

Brett agreed with Bill Gates on the coronavirus test, according to Brett, an assistant secretary of state at the Department of Health and Human Services.

According to him, the test system needs to be better. "We can never be satisfied until we get the test results within 24 hours," said Brett.

He said half of the virus tests in the United States are being conducted in large commercial labs, adding that on average it takes more than four days for test results to arrive from these locations. This situation must change.
