Moon met with senior officials on Monday to discuss security on the Korean
Peninsula. Citing the 2016 Kim-Moon conference as an example, South Korean
President Moon said, "We cannot break the promise made by Chairman Kim
Jong-un to our 70 million people to bring peace to the Korean Peninsula."
Disconnecting North Korea should not have escalated tensions. Let's put past
conflicts behind us and sit down to discuss. I hope all complex issues can be resolved
through communication and cooperation. '
Last week, North Korea disconnected the two countries 'leaders' hotline.
Kim's sister Yoo-Jung then stated Saturday warning South Korea. Although not
officially, Yeo-Jung is currently working as one of Kim Jong-un's top
associates.
In a statement, Kim's sister threatened military action against South
Korea. Yo-Jung said, "With the supreme leader, my party, and the power
given by the state, I have instructed the department in charge of dealing with
the enemy to take further action."
Many have fled North Korea and taken refuge in South Korea. The two sides
are at loggerheads over sending anti-North leaflets and messages across the
border. Kim Yeo-Jung, Kim's sister, threatened to pay a "heavy price"
if the fugitives could not stop him.
