Delhi mosque closed again in panic
Delhi's famous Juma Mosque has been closed again since
Thursday amid fears of coronavirus. The 17th-century mosque was reopened last
Monday after being closed for several weeks. But authorities say the infection
could intensify in the coming weeks. As a result, the mosque's management
decided to close it. The mosque's chief imam, Ahmed Bukhari, said public
prayers at the mosque would be closed from Friday to June 30 due to the
deteriorating coronavirus situation in New Delhi.
More than 16,000 corona patients were identified in the
Indian capital on Thursday. In this state of 20 million people, about 34,000
have been infected and more than 1,000 have died. Bukhari said in a statement
that corona infection is on the rise in Delhi. There is no reason to allow worshipers
to come to the mosque at this time.
The media manager of the mosque died two days ago after
contracting the coronavirus. India has eased the lockdown since last Monday due
to adverse effects on the economy. But the spread of the corona has not stopped
in the country with the second largest population in the world. About three
lakh people have been infected with the virus in the country so far.
